Vintage Vinyl Revival

Here’s a pretty unique find: A Janis Joplin one-sided 8″ red plastic flexi-disc.

From the archives: a gritty mix of vintage hot rod tunes in the surf rock style – topped off with the real live sounds of some old-school motorbikes.

An upbeat Valentine’s mix of romance rock, vintage-pop & other “sweet nothings.”

From the recent live session at the Palace Billiards DJ Lounge, I remixed the original recording into two sets, which have a little better flow and unity. I’m not quite in the mood for the heart-break sounds that make up remix #2, so enjoy this more upbeat set for now.

It still doesn’t quite fit my mood – at the moment women don’t seem entirely evil – but for some of you, perhaps they do. As promised, remixed set #2 from the recent live session at the Palace Billiards DJ Lounge.

KBGA just had it’s annual Birthday Bash and on this, their 12th birthday, they had a 50’s theme party. You bet I was glad to DJ, offering up my old-school rock & roll records. Heck, some boppers even got up and danced.

Here’s some rockin’ little numbers, mostly pre-Beatles 50’s and early 60’s… Nothing too amazingly rare as far as the tunes and artists go (though I’d be surprised if everyone is totally hep to Johnny & the Hurricanes or Freddie Bell & the Bellboys), but it should be noted that these songs all came off of some pretty rare albums, all original first pressings… collector’s items for sure.

By the way, Chuck Berry is the shit.
